Abstract
Am 2. Oktober 1921 starb der letzte württembergische König Wilhelm II. Seine Regentschaft endete unfreiwillig mit der Novemberrevolution 1918. Der verlorene Erste Weltkrieg hatte den Sturz der Monarchie in Deutschland zur Folge und beendete das Königreich Württemberg nach 112 Jahren. Diese Dokumentation zur Ausstellung im StadtPalais – Museum für Württemberg zeigt die prägendsten Stationen im Leben des beliebten und verehrten Königs und seiner Familie. Wir möchten mit unserer Ausstellung und dieser Dokumentation zu einem historischen Diskurs und einer Neubewertung der 27 Jahre währenden Regierungszeit von Wilhelm II. anregen und beitragen.
Translation of abstract (English)
On 2 October 1921, the last King of Württemberg, Wilhelm II, died. His reign came to an involuntary end with the November Revolution in 1918. The lost First World War resulted in the fall of the monarchy in Germany and ended the Kingdom of Württemberg after 112 years. This documentation for the exhibition in the StadtPalais - Museum für Württemberg shows the most formative stages in the life of the popular and honoured king and his family. With our exhibition and this documentation, we would like to encourage and contribute to a historical discourse and a reassessment of the 27-year reign of Wilhelm II.
