Abstract
Translation of abstract (English)
The present essay discusses the state of documentation of the baths of Trajan in the Codex Destailleur, in comparison to earlier drawings and the forma urbis marmorea. Furthermore in a large number of vedute, the contribution identifies the since destroyed ruins of what is now known as the baths of Titus between the baths of Trajan and the Colosseum. For the baths of Trajan in the Codex Destailleur as well as the baths of Titus in case of a sketch by Palladio it is shown that the respective drawings are only reliable in measured areas from an archaeological point of view. One consequence of the study is a lack of evidence for an axially symmetric bath building with a central cross-vaulted hall predating the baths of Trajan.
