Abstract
Beeinflusst von Deutschen Werkbund und dem Bauhaus designte und produzierte der Solinger Besteckfabrikant und Industriedesigners Carl Pott Essbestecke, die einem hohen handwerklichen Qualitätsstandard gerecht werden. Ähnlich wie die kunsthandwerklichen Unikat-Bestecke des Goldschmied Andreas Moritz, vertrat Pott den Anspruch nach Funktionsgerechtigkeit und Verzicht auf "Überflüssiges". Der Beitrag zeigt, wie Essbestecke von Carl Pott rein handwerklich in konsequenter Anwendung einer aus dem Kunsthandwerk abgeleiteten hohen Material- und Werkgerechtigkeit zu Serienprodukten wurden.
Translation of abstract (English)
Influenced by the German Werkbund and the Bauhaus, the Solingen cutlery manufacturer and industrial designer Carl Pott designed and produced cutlery that meets a high standard of quality. Similar to the goldsmith Andreas Moritz's unique cutlery products, Pott represented the demand for functionality and renunciation of "superfluous" accessories. This article shows how Carl Pott's cutlery became series products purely as a result of craftsmanship and the consistent usage of a high standard of material and workmanship derived from craftsmanship.
