Abstract
Der vorliegende Text ist eine topographisch geordnete Reihe der in lateinischer Sprache geschriebenen Beschreibungen, die antike stadtrömische Kunstdenkmäler zu ihrem Gegenstand haben. Er stellt das vorläufige Ergebnis der vor einiger Zeit beabsichtigten Arbeit dar, deren Endzweck das Zustandekommen eines möglichst vollständigen und ausführlichen, sich zugleich auf neueste archäologische Daten und – was die Sprachwahl betrifft – auf literarisch-humanistische Tradition stützenden Kunstreiseführer zur alten (vor 313 n. Chr.) Stadt Rom ist; also ein kenntnisbringenden und übungsreichen Text für die, die sich in das Antikenstudium beginnen zu vertiefen .
Translation of abstract (English)
The text here presented is a topographically ordered series of written in Latin language descriptions, treating ancient (until 313 A.D.) art monuments of city Rome. It is the preliminary result of the work conceived some time ago and intended as the preparation of an art guide-book to the ancient city of Rome, completed and detailed as far as possible, which would lean on latest archeological data and – concerning the choice of exposition language – on the humanist literary tradition, being a kind of manual for those who intend to deepen the studies of Roman antiquity.
