Abstract
Der Jakobstab, ein Instrument zur Winkelbestimmung und indirekt zur Höhenmessung von Gestirnen wurde von Levi ben Gershon (1288-1344) erfunden. Günther vertritt die Auffassung, dass der Nürnberger Kosmograph Martin Behaim (1459-1507) dieses Instrument in die portugiesische Seefahrt einführte.
