Abstract

The Hubbard model is transformed into an effective Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov-type interaction using the means of flow equations in second order pertubation theory. The stability of the system is analysed and evaluated in order to obtain the transition into various possible phases. Looking at the Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor interaction one gets an antiferromagnetic transition. In the BCS-channel d+-superconductivity is obtained. Other important instabilities are the Pomeranchuk instability which changes the lattice structur and Bandsplitting. In the Hubbard model with next-nearest-neighbor interaction antiferromagnetism nearly vanishes. Ferromagnetism appears for strong coupling. Other types of instabilities of comparable strength are also reported.
