Abstract

In this paper, a novel model for the energy-momentum tensor $\Theta_{\mu\nu}$ of the pure gauge sector on the lattice is developed, motivated by D-dimensional self-similarity considerations regarding space, spacetime, multidimensional thermodynamics, and vierbein calculus within general relativity. In contrast to the hitherto introduced lattice models for $\Theta_{\mu\nu}$, the new model presented here is explicitly working with half powers of plaquette variables and can simultaneously fulfil the demands for a uniform construction principle and for a Wilson form of the Hamiltonian component $\Theta_{44}$ as well as for the structure of the trace anomaly. Monte Carlo simulations on a 10**4 lattice using the gauge group SU(2) have been performed for the expectation values of $\Theta_{\mu\nu}$ and Euclidean correlators. The results are compared with the hitherto existing models. The numerical results for the expectation values of the energy-momentum tensor are shown to be sensitive to the construction principle of the underlying model whereas the measurement of the correlators turns out to be dominated by statistical errors. As a designing by-product of the lattice regularized ansatz for the energy-momentum tensor, we demonstrate a quadratic equivalence of the ($ict$)-Euclidean representation of the Riemann tensor and an SO(4) field strength tensor supplied by vierbein calculus.
