Abstract
This article is about two types of artists, on the one hand Leonardo Vinci, who still struggled to free himself from the conditions defined by his patrons, and on the other hand Michelangelo who largely succeeded being a free artist in a modern sense. One can explain this emancipation, at least in part, with different social backgrounds of both artists.
