Translation of abstract (English)
The author analyzes the fragments of Abbot Varlaam’s life story painted in in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi Pateryk aiming to describe the art processеs in Kyiv during the 1060s – early 1070s. The article discusses the issues of church building in Kyiv’s Pecherska Lavra, artistic contacts between Kyiv and Constantinople, and the patronage on art of the grand princes in Kyiv.
